Default Broke Down Again! It Just Won't Start

Grrr.....ok, so I took my little boy to the bus stop this morning and after it got warm inside, I turned the car off to save gas. It was off about 10 minutes I guess and when I went to start it back up it wouldn't start. It's been running fine, no funny noises, no missing, nothing. Just had the oil changed Monday and it has over a 1/2 tank of gas in it. The only thing I can think of that might be causing it is my husband got gas the other night at a convenience store near us that's notorious for having water in it (he's been told, but forgot).

My question is: Is there any way to tell if there's water in the gas w/o having it towed in and the tank drained? Cause I have NO money whatsoever and as of right now, the car is sitting at the end of my street and I can't get it even as far as my driveway.....

Any help or thoughts are appreciated.

You could get a bottle of gas dryer at any auto parts store, won't hurt it even if theres no water in the tank. Put a bottle in and shake the Blazer back and forth to mix it up. I am assuming that it turns over but won't fire up?? Could be a pluged up fuel filter? Need to know more of how it is acting, if it tries to start, what year it is for starters. Good luck fem

Sorry...shoulda been a little more specific lol

It's a 1997 & it's cranking, just won't turn over...does't make any attempt

Battery is ok, all the lights and sounds are working...

Like I said, it's been running fine til now...hasn't made the slightest noise or hiccup to indicate something was messing up....

Well....sadly, it's the fuel pump....when the ignition is in the On position, there's no sound of any kind back near the tank.....

SOOOOO, looks like I'm vehicle-less for the next oh.....28 to 30 days due to lack of money to have this *blankity-blank-blank* fixed lol

Thanks for trying to help me s15kid

I would look at the relays first. I believe they are in the glove compartment, behind that little cover.

If you turn the key on and give the gas tank firly solid smack with a rubber hammer or a piece of wood ( not hard enough to put a dent in the tank) it may start the pump and you should at least be able to get it home. It just might not start again, so don't trust it to go running around til it's fixed.

The relay cover can be a pain, it pulls out and down at the same time.

The relay might be fused, if you can not get the cover off try tapping the dash around the glove box area. This will let you know if you suddenly hear the pump kick in. Then you will need to replace the relay.

Also try checking your fuses, might just be a bad fuse.

Then try the tank thing.

If you do drop in a bottle of Gas Line Dryer, it is auto flow. As soon as you drop it in, it runs threw the gas. But wont go threw the gas line due to the pump sits lower then the fuel line. So it wont help the fuel line if the pump is not pumping.
