Last night my battery light came on so come to find out the alternator was going bad. So I went ahead and bought one and took it back to my girlfriend's house, where her dad helped me put it in. Ever since then, I can smell a slight burning smell...for the most part when I open the door and am stepping out. Not neccessarily a fire burning but more like a material burning smell...rubber maybe? I've tried popping the hood and smelling the alternator and belt...but i can't pinpoint where the smell is coming from. My only guess is the belt but we put it back on correctly. Any ideas? Thanks

Did you do any other electrical work on it?

no...other than trying to push some wires out of the way to get to the bolts on the alternator and disconnecting the plug on the alternator...
