Default A/C Clutch

I have 2 questions

1) I need to change the clutch on my A/C compressor, I cannot get the tool for holding the clutch so that I can get the nut off that holds it. is there another way to get this done?

2) my manual does not show it but I understand I need to space an area where the clutch ingages, but I do not know how much space is needed ??

thanks for any help

I have no idea how you can even remove the compressor clutch without special tools.
I can't find specs for the gap on the plate, but I think it's about .020"
Sorry I can't help.

If you are replacing the clutch with a new one, then any means necessary to lock the clutch and get the nut off is available and that includes means that may damage what you are replacing.

I believe I have always used an impact gun to get things apart. The nut shouldn't be all that tight.

On reassembly, I have always installed the belt then locked the clutch by applying power to it then tighten with a rachet.
