Default a/c doesnt blow cold

hey guys new to the forum and not too great when it comes to under the hood. but i just recently bought a 96 blazer salvage title as is in ok condition with 143k miles. it runs good and just needs a few little fixes hear and there.

but anyways on to the problem/question. the ac on it will blow air but does not blow out cold like it should be. the checked the freon pressure and its good. thats as far as i got.. haha so any help would be greatly appreciated cuz its starting to get hot here in cali.

Does the compressor kick on? The clutch in the middle of the pulley should turn when you have the ac on.

i have a related question, i went to the garage and asked them to check my a/c.
they put pressure on it for 30 mins to see if it leaked. it did not.

so they filled the system with freon, the compressor kicks on and the blend door is fine.
but all i get is warm air(ambient temperature)

whats wrong ?

thanks

That could be either the condensor or the evaporator. What did the garage say? AC repair can get very expensive, even more so if the shop isn't exactly honest lol.

the garage is honest, i used to work there installing tires and i know very well the mecanics and the owner.

but a/c is not the mecanic's speciality ! he told me i needed a new compressor(even if i can see the clutch go on and off)

a/c does not work since 3-4 years. can i only replace the compressor or should i change something else at the same time ?

When the compressor kicks on how long does it stay on, or does it short cycle on and off?

Ususally short cycling meens low freon. However, if you are sure it has the proper charge it could be a bad pressure switch. Try disconnecting the battery to reset everything first. Sometimes it works. Before buying a new compressor I would swap out the pressure switch though.
