Default a/c problems...

i got my blazer from my grandma and for the past two years the ac has not worked, its a 98 ls. now i have made a jumper and the ac compressor does come on and makes no noise, but blows hot air, i left it sit and run for a few minutes and no change in temperature. i have searched on here, but i come up confused about what to do next, and i know you guys and gals know what to do, so whats next?

you could try re-charging the system, but i believe your from WI iirc so you will not be able to buy the 134a unless you have a licence so youll have to drive down to IL and pick some up down there or take it to a shop.

I agree. Try recharging it yourself. I don't know if you need a license to get 134a or not, but you may be ok and just need a recharge.

Ive never heard of anyone needing a license to buy 134a since its "ozone-friendly", Mike. Of course Ive also never been to Wisconsin lol, but thats very odd.......

Busch, if nothing else, Im sure you could buy it on eBay, and be careful jumping out the low pressure switch without knowing how much it has in it...if its just low, its usually pretty safe to run it for short periods like you did just to test it. However, if its completely dry and you jump it out like that, you can damage the compressor very quickly.

Yep, needs freon... but it will probably only work for a few days before it all leaks right back out. Does your compressor have black gook all over itself?.. they are known for leaking at the center of the housing.
I have had good luck using this product for leaks at the compressor housing...

nope, nothing black on it. i did press the low-pressure tap in to see if there was even any gas in there and their was, but i prob let out the rest of what was in there. my grandma was going to get it fixed, and the dealer quoted her 850 bucks, so i am not sure if they were trying to take her for a ride or what. i am unsure if i will get it fixed, in wisconsin it is really only summer for 2 months, then it gets into the 60's or 70's so ac is not needed, but it would be nice on those 90 degree days haha

If the AC system has been open to the atmoshpere at all before you recharge the system with freon you will need to have a vacuum pulled to remove all moisture from the system.
