I have 2000 Blazer. Firestone is offering $20 Synthetic Blend Oil Change.
Can I use that type of oil? Currently I use conventional.

Yes you can, but why? For me its one or the other, synthetic lubes better, last longer, doesnt break down like conventional. Three vehicles at our house, 98 blazer, 03 windstar and 99 jetta. Synthetic in all of them with no problems

 

You are probably after the good deal. If yes, you can and go for it. You can switch synthetic to conventional to blends, contrary to what other people say. A synthetic blend blows that myth out of the water.

Best to use full synthetic all the time. A blend would be a step down, conventional is OK for the lawnmower, or squeeky door hinges

 

I just go to Wal-Mart and get Mobile 1 High Milage for $26. If you do it yourself it's waaaaay cheaper. Also just left my job as Jiffy Lube Manager and yeah, synthetic would be the way to go. They charged like $80 for Mobile 1 though.

 

Check out the synth. 'oil change packages' that Advance Auto is running til Jan. 28th. They have Mobil 1 or Valvoline synth. with an oil filter/ Mobil M1-201 or a Purolator Pure One/ thrown in at a good price. Walmart always has good prices on Synth. oil. I really like the advantages of synth. during the cold weather.

 

What are the advantages during cold weather?
