So I spent all day tearing this thing apart to fix my intake gasket leaks and, wouldn't you know it, there's one thing standing in my way...I can't get the EGR tube to unscrew from the lower manifold. The head is starting to strip. Is there some kind of trick to this?

HEAT...even if you use a simple propane torch to heat it,well heat around the housing and then spray the egr tube its self with pb blaster so the heat expands the surrounding threads and the pb blaster will clean and cool the egrbolt thingy so it doesnt expand as much as the surrounding metal from the heat...heat heat heat...
