Check Engine Light (2000 LS)
OK. I don't come on often, and the search didn't help me fully.
I have a 2000 LS 2WD.
Problem #1 was a sound, like if someone was turning the blinker on and off really fast. However it's been gone for months now.
Problem #2 is a bit more complicated:
When I first got the car,it had a loud noise from the engine bay, there was a hole in a metal hose (if you are looking from the front), on the left side of the engine. I think it's a vacuum hose, or an exhaust hose, or whatever. It had a quarter sized hole in it. My pops and I pulled it out, and welding it shut with a piece of scrap metal from his shop. It made the car 50% more quieter. Then after that, I realized I had an exhaust leak. So I got the gasket replaced. Now, ever since that gasket replacement, I shut the light off via, disconnection of the battery. It came back on, however the car seemed to be running like a dream now, 95% silent. I took it to Auto Zone, the machine first read, something about air injection. He reset it, and told me to return if it came back on. It came on the 2nd day. I haven't taken it back yet, however it's on. I am trying to sell it, but I at least need to know what it is, if I can fix it, or should I tell the buyer to get it fixed. It has 103,000 miles.
Here are some aspects to consider:
Recent oil change, however it may be due for one.
Never checked the tranny oil, since the 5 months I have owned it.
Recent accident, insurance paid for repairs.
Coolant needs to be flushed, will do tomorrow.
I have a high output radio, w/ subs, lights flicker during high volumes.
I have Sylvania Silverstars which burn higher.
Problem #3: Ever since I replaced the gasket, the temp gauge jumps way high, and then the check gauge light comes on. Then during driving it goes back down, even when the engine is not hot.
I don't want to spend alot on it, for that I can just keep it.

Problem #1 sounds like it fixed itself.
Problem #2 sounds like code P0410 IIRC. The air injection pump is located at the bottom of the left side of the bumper. It recirculates exhaust gas through the intake when you first start the engine to help get it up to temp quicker. After that it is not used. Not a big deal if it doesn't work but you can fix it if you want to. Either the check valves have failed and need to be replaced and/or the pump itself has gotten water in it and is corroded inside. Not sure by what you mean about a hole in a tube. Pics would help.
Problem #3, what gasket did you replace? Many things can cause over heating but from your basic description I'd check out the clutch on your fan.

I went to AutoZone today. The device read back: P0410 - Secondary Air Injection Malfunction.
Ok. So if I check that device. Is there a picture of it? If that is the problem, which I hope it is then I will replace it.
So can someone show me what it looks like.
Also the gasket I replaced was the one between the muffler and cat. or resonator whatever that is.

Ok. I don't understand the overheating, however, I have to do a flush. That could be reason #1, a broken thermostat may be reason #2.
As for the air pump, is this it:

What does it look like exactly? Is it expensive?
I was also wondering... If I get the codes erased at AutoZone could I just rush over to the inspection center before the light comes back on? I just want to get it inspected so that I could fix it, but at least I will be able to drive it without looking over my shoulder.

Yes, that is the air injection pump. Located below the lower fan shroud on the left hand side. You can get the engine up to temp and then have the code cleared and it should not come up again until the engine has cooled down.
