CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
Okay here we go. 1995 Blazer, 111000 miles. Changed CPI, Plugs, Wires, O2 sensors, no engine light no more not at all. Came on, transmission blew (AAMCO Rebuild), had transmission rebuilt again, have about 4000 on new tranny and nowwhen towing, driving hard, check engine light comes on. But before I can find out what it is, it goes out. Is there a module someplace that deals with the trany?
Is that true for the OBD1.5 systems used in the '95s??? I believe these use some of the protocols of the newer OBD2 systems, but have quite a bit of the older OBD1 swimming around in them.
Also, most parts stores don't have the correct scan tools for these messed up PCMs...

Woops. I was thinking that it was OBDII . I ran into that on a late 94 and we had an interface at work for the Tech 2's if I remember right so I doubt the generic scanners at most stores would have it. I think there were also two versions of 1.5, one talked back and one didn't. I think the code should still be in there but then again I don't have the info on that one so I'd be afraid to babble on anymore. I just keep my fingers crossed and hope I don't run into that one.
Light still on, not tranny, but has a P1810 code which falls into three seperate catagories. One is the TFP switch, the second translation is RPM IN and OUT are the same and the last is a short showing an open 4-wheel drive low indicator circut to ground. So, because it is so cold and snowy right now and cannot get under the vehicle just yet decided to take the the vehicle in to AAMCO, not the TFP switch, so left with something corroded or loose. Where is the transfer switches located or should I start with the obvious, the vehicle control module? Also, mid 1995 GM swithed to the OBD-II system.
I have actually grown very comfortable with my scammy "check engine NOW" cries..i have literally replaced everything under my '95 blazer's sun..so now i just regard it as another WMD wolf cry from the repulicans.
We have lived with the check engine light that would come on at exectly 195 miles, and go off at 225 miles then the mile count started again. Finally found the culprit, bad O2 sensors and light was off for a good 40000 miles. Then it came on again, tranny blew. Tranny fixed, no light for 6000 miles, light came on, tranny blew again. Tranny fixed, no light, 8000 miles now, light on, not the tranny sooooo I have no clue WTF is going on now. Guess we will no go 10 miles off, 225 miles on. Nice change
