Default Clicking noise coming from rear of car

When starting the 2003 Blazer, I can hear a clicking/ticking noise coming from the rear. I have been having problems with starting and hesitation from accelaration and was just wondering if this was a source of the problems. It goes away after running. Is it the fuel pump kicking in or something else?

Many thanks in advance.....

this is true... i heard the same from the cat but cut the sheild off and solved that one.. the cat expands and contracts as the temp changes... so as it warms up it expands and the noise stops. as it cools down it contracts freeing up space from the warped metal... try if its the cat to isolate the noise .. could just be a simple cut ... unless its the whole cat and its a sign from god to replace and upgrade to new with glasspack muffler , sexytimeeeee lol...

Update: Yesterday I tried just turning the key as suggested and no noise. Started the engine and when I pressed the brake to put it into reverse, the clicking noise came back. Drove about two miles, applied the brakes to turn it off and once the engine stopped, the clicking noise came back.

I applied the brake three different times and heard the clicking each time.

Is this thing haunted? I will post any new findings later today.

Greatly appreciate and suggestions.Thanks

O.K. Another update from today. Went out and started the truck. No noise from the back. Made a few stops and starts and no noise at all.

Am I going crazy?

Another update. The noise is still eratic at times. However, yesterday I replaced the battery and after I hooked up the positive cable and as soon as I touched the negative terminal, I could hear the noise coming from the rear of the passenger side.

Could it be a short somewhere? I have been trying to remove the skid plate under the tank (pain in the butt, when you don't have a way to jack up the rear) and check the vent solenoid.

Any ideas, anyone. Don't know if this is causing any problems but it sure is ignoring.

Thanks for any input.
