I don’t know that system but most ignition systems probably do not work at 8 volts

I'm getting quite discouraged trying to find appropriate information.

Why does the vehicle need to be jumped, what’s wrong with the starting system?

i would check the battery voltage during cranking to see if the whole truck is at 8 volts. If not then you can isolate where the voltage drop is occurring.

Been sitting and the RV had dead cells. So, we got another battery, charged it, then connected that and jumped it with a running truck.

What are the possible issues related to this if while jumping something got crossed?

If you put a new freshly charged battery in the vehicle then why does it need to be jumped?

By crossed do you mean that the battery cables were attached the wrong way?

It wasn't the appropriate cca for the RV. Weaker. Also, to keep it from draining while we figured it out.

It was jenky too. Side terminal cables on RV. Top terminal on battery. Had to use cables to connect battery to RV, then cables to jump battery.

I think he touched the frame while using this setup, initially. Smelled a little something, which is probably how I list my ignition module and coil. I'm wondering what else?

If you tried to jump the vehicle with the jumper cables hooked up wrong then all kinds of things can go wrong. You can blow the diodes in the alternator, blow fusible links in large power cables, blow regular fuses throughout the vehicle, damage computer based electronics like the ECM, etc.

they weren't backwards. I think it shorted on the frame, though. I'm getting all kinds of advice, from run a hot wire from the battery to the coil, to use a jumper cables to ground in the frame. It all starts with getting the battery connected properly, though.

What sorted to the frame?

You definitely have to solve the low voltage problem. You meed to see if the voltage at the battery positive post is 8V during cranking and if not, find out where it drops. You also need to check the voltage at the ignition module.

I think the jumpers touched the frame.
