clunking and binding

Default clunking and binding

Ok on my way home today i had to hit the brakes pretty hard and there was a clunk and then it seemed to be binding up(it would drive but felt like breaks were on).I pulled over and didnt see anything noticable.I put it in reverse then drive and it freed up until i hit breaks again.anyhelp is appreciated

Might be that one of your caliper mounting bolts is lose or came out. I actually had that happen to me once and I would press the brakes and it would lock the caliper up temporarily. just take your tires off the front end and look at your calipers.

Drive vehicle a very short distance, hit brakes hard just before you reach the place you can jack-up the vehicle and work on it.
Jack-up front....spin tires by hand and see if there is any resistance. Same for rear.

Once you determine if there is a problem then remove that wheel and check the caliper for missing bolt. Could be a caliper pistion is a bit stuck in the bore, or may have a collapsed brake line that is not letting brake fluid return.

Several things to check-out.
