Compass display stops working in hot sunny temps

After searching the forum I've come up with nuffin..
My 98 Blazer LT overhead compass (with sunroof) doesn't seem to display anything in hot sunny 70+ weather. I have the compass that displays MPG, range, temp and such. After sitting in the parking lot at work or in the driveway in the sun, the display doesn't seem to light up. However, in cooler weather, it lights up the display and works fine. And if I fooled with the buttons, may display whatever I got to like the range or cel instead of far measurement when it does light up again.
I'm at a loss whether this is a fuse or wiring issue since it does work and still seems pretty accurate with my direction/temp readings. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If it was a fuse or wiring then it would never work. Most likely the electronics have become heat sensitive. You could try removing the unit and add some heat insulation between the unit and the roof to see if that helps. You may just have to replace the unit. I have seen used ones on ebay for not too much.
Good luck

Hmm.. Was hoping to not have to replace it, it still seems to work just fine at other times. Think I will try the insulation and keep looking into a possible reason.. Thanks
