Default control arms

When should they be replaced?

More than likey yours are fine...i racked up over 200k on mine.
i only removed them because of the suspension lift.
Inspect them..i am guessing you will go thru bushings before you go thru the arms....unless you are hard on your ride...when you get an alignment ask them what they think....not a pro but i am guessing you are ok...but i havent seen them either.

Out of curiousity...why do you ask? Having issues or just wondering about them?

As long as they aren't bent, broke, cracked, eaten through with rust, split, fractured, warped, elongated, scrunched (running out of terms here) you should be fine. As has been stated, the bushing wear out, not the arms themselves.

Why do we continue? These cars are not made to go the long run but by only by nuts like us!Call us all old school! Rebuild&replace! I guess any Chevy can go again! But at what cost? Is it worth it? After an off frame rebuild in the late 90's that cost 30K-and sold for 15K...I have rethought my logic! HMMMM!

Most new control arms come with new, rivited on ball joints & new bushings. My DS one did for $170.
If your ball joints are bolted on they're most likely aftermarket - been replaced.

Step66 - our vehicles are getting newer - piece by piece! lol - it's a labor of love & depending what & how much you've put into any vehicle that equals less that's going to go wrong for another XXX amount of miles (hopefully)

Yeah, Rottidog-I agree, but I just get so tired of constantly wrenching on a 15 year old very poorly engineered car(my 2nd) that I am about to give up on these units-at this age they are getting done! Where my 1966 C10 has been totally rebuilt 5 times since it has been in our family since 1972 at much less cost&headaches and has close to 1 million miles on it! I think I am reverting to the old iron, because I guess I AM OLD iron too! LOL!
