Cooling Fan Removal 2000 Blazer
Ok, in trying to replace my water pump I have run into a problem of trying to remove the Fan Clutch Assembly from the nose of the Water Pump, is there some trick to this because I cannot seem to get it off, any answers out there?

Well at work I use a special tool designed just for this, but at home, I have used a large wrench, a pipe wrench could be used but be careful. Leave the belt on, and put the wrench on, then hit the wrenchwith a large hammer (it has normal threads, righty tighty, lefty loosey) If this does not work, you can try to hold the WP pully with a large screwdriver between the pully bolt heads, and try that to hold the pully while the wrench is used to remove the fan. Also if you are close to an Autozone, or other parts store that will rent tools out you can try them for a fan remover tool. Good luck, Korey.

Yeah, and what a bitch to take off, it was a trip, couldn't find the right tool anywhere, ended up getting a deal on a metric adjustable wrench (figure that one out) and was fortunate to pop it loose while keeping a small box wrench wedged on two of the bolts holding the bell pully on. After that going back on was rather tough but was able to do the same thing to get it on, the belt was of no use to me it could not hold the pully stationary enough to get enough leverage on the large shaft. All in all is was one heck of an experience, nothing like having the right tools for the job.
