I hadn't heard of that. If that's all it is, I'm gonna feel pretty dumb! I'll give it a search, and see what I can find. Thanks, guys

I think there was an older style intake gasket that was closed off on one end of the cooling passages and open on the other. So, if that style was put in backwards yes you would have cooling problems. If you used the felpro 98002t style gasket, then they are open on both ends and you shouldn't have to worry..

I wound up with the old style, I think. It was fel pro, but later I realized it wasn't the "good" fel pro. Different part number. One of the ends was closed off, but I'm pretty certain the front coolant crossover wasn't blocked. I'm not 100%, though. It was late and I was tired when I was putting it back together.

Guess this weekend I'll just pull the intake back off just to verify. Might as well go back with the right gaskets while I'm there, too.

Not too fun! Lol. But my time is free, so it's not too bad. Now that I've figured out the trick to alinging the oil pump drive, it isn't too bad

Holy crap, what a mess! Although, everything should be pretty easy to get to, now!

Oh very much so! The intake manifold was so much easier to get to on this one versus my other!!

Well, I just pulled the lower intake, and the gaskets were installed right all along. The front coolant crossover wasn't blocked. Even if they were reversed, it wouldn't have mattered, since the gaskets have openings for the coolant on both ends.

Anyone have any other ideas? This thing is really starting to irritate me!

Edit. Pulled the water pump and popped the back cover off. Impeller looks good, and spins properly.

Wow, that's a lot of work. What are you getting your temp. readings from? Have you checked the sending unit and wiring? If you had debris in the radiator, did you pull the block drain plugs and check there? Hope you find your problem soon.
