That would have been about the only thing left after the balance test but you saved yourself a step. Good work.

Ok it Idles low then shoots up to around 2 1/2 and back down to low idle. Sounds like it's sucking too much air and pops back through TB. Should I let it run and see if it clears up?

Did you drain the tank all the way down? Did you "rinse" it with some fresh gas and another short drain?

How much fresh gas did you put in?

Could your fuel filter be clogged now? What does the fuel pressure look like?

When I have old gas that I drained from the tank, it usually does run like crap for a while and then straightens out but I have never had that kind of surging before.

You will have to judge if the truck is safe to run but as a general rule, don't run it if the CEL is blinking because that means that the misfires are dramatic enough to potentially cause engine damage.

I just drained it down almost empty...Put in a few gallons.. She started right up after that..... My brother as my pressure gauge so can't check pressures....I don't know what is in the fuel, it looks cloudy and when settles it looks like white oil floating on top.... Think I best take it to shop and have them drop the tank and clean it out before bad things happen..I don't have a garage and working long hrs.

If it was me, I would drain that fuel again and monitor what comes out, change the filter and put a few more gallons in and try again but your approach is more conservative and could as you say, prevent damage. That fuel sounds like a mess.

I could... It's just a back-up vehicle... I have another jar of fuel from lower in the tank just before I stopped pumping it out. Looks clearer not as cloudy...Doesn't smell as "gassy" as it should....Time will tell. I didn't know the fuel pump pulses as it works..Just learned a friend of mine came by and installed a new crank sensor...Maybe that's the issue.
