Default Crashed car, swapping the front

I was in a crash with my 01 blazer and I rear ended a Hyundai SUV.

The drivers side of my car is totally ****ed. The fender is bent so the door won't open, hood is bent as well, and the frame to body mount has broken and anything above it has been crammed into the engine area.

The car starts fine but the radiators blown and I have no power steering.

I found a 2002 model same color everything for 800 bucks and that has a slipping tranny. I can't decide whether or not to get that and swap the front of the car with mine or take off my tranny and put it in the 2002 model.

The issue is that I can do the front swap myself but if I go with option 2 I'll have to pay a mechanic to do it.

It sounds like your frame is toast from your description....

The frame is fine actually. The car was hit above it, the lights are toast the driver fender and the hood. Just the top of the frame on that front corner.

Even the suspension and the sway bars are fine no damage underneath

Just my opinion, but I'd be afraid there is more to it...that was an awful hard hit to break a body mount. Plus the other blazer is newer so that may increase your value a little. I'd just be afraid once you got it apart you would find more, even a broken or damaged wire might be a beast to find once you get the swap done.

I'd probably swap the tranny out and go with the one not wrecked. Just my opinion though.

if you broke a body mount, you most likely bent the frame.

Here are the pictures.. Tbh I'm not even sure how this happened the way it did. It seems like everything above the frame was crushed inwards. Visually the frame and the suspension look fine... In the dark atleast but yeah.

The issue is that I can do the body part swaps myself but I can not do the tranny swap, I'll have to pay 200 to have both towed to a mechanic and probably 1200-1500 for a tranny swap, or maybe more since it's 4x4

I think that if you feel confident to swap all the body panels, and take the time to get them all lined up correctly, then you have requisite knowledge, tools, and time to swap a transmission.

Transmission swaps are not all that hard, there are literally dozens of links online of how-to write-ups, maybe not for your exact year and model, but the basics are all the same.

I also agree, that if you broke a body mount, there were a lot of forces involved in that accident and I can almost guarantee that there is damage you can't see or won't realize until you have everything torn apart.

Swap the tranny and use your wrecked Blazer as a parts rig until you get the other one 100%.

Thebody mount that "broke" is the one in the picture that popped out of the frame. And honestly to swap the body parts it's mostly just bolts and nuts while for the tranny I need Jacks to raise the vehicle enough, Jacks to bring out the tranny and all of that in an apartment..

Anyway, how can I know definitely if there is frame damage? Should I check the other body mounts?

I'm thinking of stripping the broken ****.off the car and throw away anything bent and broken so I'll have more space to see how far the damage is... Visually it feels like the upper half got crushed

I guess you will find out when you get the new body parts on if the frame is bent or not.

Have you looked into what your insurance company and state of registration think about "just swapping body parts". Some states require an inspection after the repairs are done, especially if you end up having to change to a salvaged title. I'm surprised the insurance company didn't total your blazer. There looks to be more damage than what the replacement value of the vehicle probably is....
