I have a 2002 ZR2 and I'm curious about the functioning of the cruise control. I've never had a vehicle with cc act quite like this before. On level ground, all is fine. Now when I approach casual uphill grade, the cruise will pull ok for a while, downshift like it seems to 2nd gear, high rpms and finally level back off. It would seem more logical to me if it only shifted back to drive nistead of down shifting further. Anyone else have/had this issue?

 

It's going to shift to whichever gear the PCM thinks will get you back to speed the quickest within the RPM parameters programmed to it.

 

It just seems like overkill to me. Beginning to think it's acting normal. Thanks.
