Going down the interstate today I felt a noticable lack in power so when i got off I had my wife hand me my scanner and I plugged it in while driving and came up with 2 codes, 1 pending and 1 regular code, both were "general cylinder 2 misfire". (i forget the actual code number) My scanner supports freeze frame data (where when a code occurs it saves a copy of all live date, everything from 02 sensor inputs to ignition advance and MAP and MAF readings). Is there any way to tell what it is from that data? Also I checked the wire for any cracks or anything in the insulation down to the plug but I'm gonna wait to get to the plug after my engine cools. Would checking the spark plug wire for continuity be a good way to test the wire, because I'm pretty much flat broke and can't afford to just put a new set of wires on today. Any advice on where to start would be appreciated, it is a 1997 AWD Bravada. Thanks! also it was giving the solid SES light then blinking then solid again...I took the blinking to mean it was important.

well I just found the misfire diagnosis thread, so I'm gonna wait for my engine to cool and then I'm gonna take a look at my wires and test them for continuity ( that is an accurate test for plug wires right?)

Hopefully you have seen this thread:
P030x - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
In it, there is a link to a rather lengthy, but pretty informative and very detailed thread on the P0300 - random misfire code.

the code was p0302, so it was only the 2nd cylinder, i inspected the dizzy cap and rotor, it looked brand new. my multimeter screwed up on while checking the wire so i replaced it and the spark plug, and made sure it was gapped .060. still does it. only other thing i can think off is mybe the injector isn't working. I'm gonna lean towards maybe a short of some kind cause my battery died quite fast while iwas messin with it. only problem is..how do i get to the injector? on the 97's aren't they in the throttle body?
