Cylinder 3 misfire
HeY all...just recently did my lower intake gaskets as the old ones took a crap...but now after everything is back up and running i have a misfire on cylinder 3...truck starts right off the bat just replaced cap, rotor, plugs, and lower intake gaskets. Did a compression test block test and all is fine.. ran truck on a carbon cleaning system.....checked fuel pressure which stayed at 58 for more then 15 minutes....as i changed oil after intake repair i believe there was gas at the bottom of the oil pan....any thoughts greatly appreciated.
check and/or change the plugs too. usually when you do intake gaskets stuff falls into the cylinders. if the engine runs fine just clear the code and see if it comes back, might have just had to burn all that mess out of there
same thing happened to me. check your number 3 plug i bet u have a hairline crack in it. its easy to do since that plug is in such a tight spot. get a new plug and put it in that spot and be careful not to put any stress on plug at all.
Plug wires? You didn't say you changed those. How recently were the cap and rotor? If it's been a few months even, check for corrosion. Also check to make sure the screw holes on the distributor itself aren't stripped out and causing a bad connection. Make sure you don't have a vacuum leak. Have you checked your EGR valve lately?
