Delco Transfer case switch ???
#21
You should definitely see something like that on the dipstick of the trans provided you are paying attention to that kind of thing. About 2qts high is enough to get the fluid splashing onto the switch enough to get pulled in by a faulty switch.
Who's t-case did that much fluid come out of? Yours?

Yep, that's mine. It's the '96 Sonoma with 204k miles...just drained it tonight. Looking back, the switch probably started going bad about 7 or 8 years ago (70k+ miles ago) and I replaced it just over a year ago. I changed the transmission fluid twice during that time, never checked the level regularly. With the fluid changes, who knows if I would have been able to notice a difference in fluid level.
Also checked the Blazer tonight; it had maybe 20 ounces of fluid come out.

I bet your glad you checked it now. That would include the ~2qts that are required to fill the t-case as well if you pulled the drain plug. If you pulled the fill plug and that was what came out, that's a lot!

Yeah, that was just the fill plug!

Yikes! Isn't transmission fluid supposed to be red? lol

Yeah, I'm sure it was at one time. lol (picture actually makes it look worse)
