DERM Code B1042
My airbag light has been coming on and off....I had it in to GM for something this morning and just told them to diagnose the airbag problem...they said it is the main airbag module...diagnostic untit.
This is the write up...
Has anyone ever replaced one of these...is it something I can do on my own with a used one? GM wants 515 installed for one...Just need to shave off $$$$ where I can...I am assuming I can get one out of a Jimmy or Blazer from 95-97????
This is the write up...
Preformed Diagnostic Test. Found Code B1042. Performed fault tree test and found DERM module signal fading in and out. Needs Air Bag Module Replaced.

RE: DERM Code B1042
Step 1 in trouble shooting your problem: put vehicle info in signature
Airbags should be replaced after about 10 years anyway...I would say you need to replace the entire airbag unit for safety's sake (if you are driving a 95-97, since you're asking for a part from those years). That should also clear the code as an added benefit
