determing rod bearing replacement size
I was told that there is a test strip that is put inside a bearing cap, compressed and then read to determine clearance for determining new bearing size.
What is this strip called and how is it read?

Jsut go to any auto parts store and ask for plastic-gauge; comes in either red or green depending upon the dimension to be measured. I believe you want green, but it has been a long time since I have used any.
