Guess I never responded to your post before now. This really doesn't seem like excessive play in the distributor.

That TPS sensor code seems to be pretty persistent. Still working on that? Maybe it's the problem with both misfire and idle speed. Remember that monitoring TPS angle with scanner is superior way to look at the TPS. What's really important is what the PCM thinks, irrelevant to what the actual voltages might be at the TPS. Might be something as simple as a bad connection.
