do all 4.3s have a lock-up torque converter?

Default do all 4.3s have a lock-up torque converter?

putting some miles on my 2001 jimmy,waiting to see if its ready for emissions,,but i never feel the torque converter lock up,,i know it did on my 2000 blazer rust rat,,shouldn't these books be ok for a 2001?

Maybe it isn't locking up. Most scanners will allow you to monitor TCC lockup (slip speed vs engine speed). I believe that 4l60e transmissions were PWM (pulse width modulated TCC in 1998 - 2001. This makes for smooth operation and also allows partial engagement (never fully locks up 100%).

Or just drive a steady 50 mph in OD on a level road and tap the brake pedal just enough to trip the brake light switch. If RPMs jump up the TCC was engaged. If not, presence of some other fault (stored or pending) may be preventing engagement. For many codes and problems, the first thing that gets turned off is the TCC.

what does this all mean,i can turn it on and off and hear something ,but i would never turn it on and try driving it?
