Question Door Handle Repair

I have the Front Drivers side exterior door handle loose. Seems a retaining mechanism is broken out the back side as I can see the shaft but no clip.

Is it possible to repair this from the back or would it be more prudent to just replace the unit as a whole. I knew about it when I bought it but now my confidence is building and I feel I can fix it myself with some jb-weld or a plastic welder.

Like I said, it's just a bit loose and comes out a tad on the right side of it when I use the latch.

If need be, I can get pictures, just let me know.

It always helps to hear a point of view. I plan on looking from the other side sometime next week. That front drivers side door is always a PITA for me to take apart.
