Greetings,
Getting ready to install a new Dorman timing cover on a 98' 4.3.
This may sound like a dumb question- but what is the purpose of the two metal pins that come with this kit? I assume they have something to do with aligning the cover, but the pins don't seem to properly fit the alignment holes on the cover (hole too big) nor do they seem to fit the alignment holes in the block (hole too small). Also, no instructions came with the kit.
On the OE cover, there were are two plastic nubs that corresponds to the alignment holes in the block for proper alignment.
However on the Dorman cover, there's only two holes in this location and appear to be too large. and again, the pins don't fit the hole's on the block.
Has anyone had any experience with this? I know this should be straight forward, but how do you align the Dorman cover?
