Default Driver Side Headlight Problems!!! Please Help.

Well I was re doing the wiring to my Drivers side headlight for my Quad beam Mod and the two wires that are spliced to the actual harness connected with metal and grounded out( the mod I was using is the one that works with DRL when the Hibeam is the DRL And a relay is used) . The result of this is that now both Hi-Low beams are on the Drivers side consistantly at what looks like minimum power while pasenger Side light still runs as normal power but with the second buld barely on. I have put the truck to stock again. I have checked all fuses in both locations and none of them have blown. Is there a relay setup for the headlights other than the main one in the fuse box?

You may want to provide the details of the mod... Are you sure your high beams are your DRL?

ok so for the mod I tapped into:
Yellow-Low Beam
Green/Wht Strp(positive?)- Hi Beam
- Both of these wires then hooked into a realy with the other two prongs being hooked to a ground.
And yes, my DRL is the hi beam at half power.
-These two wires connected with metal and caused the problems I beleve.

Thanks for the help Kyle.

Where do each of these wires go on the relay? The GRN/WHT wire should be +12V under normal headlight operation and be grounded during DRL operation. The YEL wire gets grounded under normal headlight operation and is open during DRL operation. The movement of the high beam switch to high beam operation opens up the contacts on the YEL wire which takes the ground side away from the low beams.

Putting the YEL wire to pin 30 on the add on relay, the GRN/WHT wire to pin 85, and then grounding pin 86 and 87 should result in low beam operation whenever the high beams are on. You could switch pins 85 & 86 around without changing the operation of the relay.

ok, the issue i have now though is that both bulbs on the drivers side come on whenever the lights are on but are powered at what looks like a 1/4 of the power. While the passenger is functioning normally(full power) with only a little amount of power going to the adjacent buld(Low beam works normally, but hi beam is getting power somehow).

Is there are relay in the system for the headlights somewhere down the system?
For the record the quad beam wiring has been removed and i am just trying to get my headlights working normally again.

Here's the schematic for your truck (2003 Non-ZR2 Headlamp Schematic):

So your problems now are with the wiring set back to stock?

You don't happen to have wires touching each other where you made the splices do you? The odd thing is that the low beams are tied together in terms of both power and ground so it sounds like it is something in the high beam circuit. Although both low beams should be the same brightness...

Have you tried swapping relays around?

No all splices were removed and then recovered with shrink tube, what relays are you talking about? I tried the one in the fuse pannel under the hood and nothing changed, is there any other relays i can try?

Well, if you look at the schematic, there are three relays that control the headlights. The HDLP Power relay, the HDLP Grounding relay, and the DRL relay.
