EBCM Stripped Torx Head
Hi all,
In an attempt to finally do the DIY solder repair of my EBCM (01 Blazer 4D 4WD), I decided today was the day to take out the module. I cleaned dirt from the bolt heads, put a few drops of penetrating oil around each one (and waited, this part was actually the day prior), and tapped my torx driver into each head first. Alas....one of the 4 heads was so rusted that it stripped, and it didn't break the connection loose. So now this project has become significantly more difficult. What ways would any of you suggest to deal with the stripped bolt? I tried vice grips, but the head isn't really big enough to get more than about 2 teeth to really grab on. I was thinking cutting a slot with a dremel, but I'm not sure if the head is so weak it may break apart with a slotted driver. Any advice from those of you who've had this happen before? The coffers are already low, and along with other work to be done, I'd rather not have to take the whole valve assembly out and end up getting the system bled, etc. Any advice is appreciated!
