Angry Electrical Help!

I have an 02 ls, and last week i went to start my truck at night, and the compass/thermometer and my gauge backlighting wont work! Whats wierd is that the compass/thermometer works during the day, but once the sensor senses that its dark out, it stops working. i just replaced the sensor, and its still doing the same. HVAC lights wont come on either at night.

So my question is... is there a fuse or relay that controls all these lights to come on when the senses switches to "night"? Any help would be great, because this is really frustrating me.

Do the dash lights work properly? Have you tried turning up the dash brightness?

Yeah, all the other dash lights (turn signal, low fuel, etc.) work fine, except for the backlighting. and the compass will display everything in the daytime.

What relay would that be wired to?

No, I am not talking about the signals or other information lights, but the illumination lights, the back-lighting itself.

This does not go through a relay. Just the ILLUM fuse. Check that, but also check the little dial on the headlight switch to make sure it isn't all the way turned off.

Ive checked that fuse, and it was fine, then i replaced just to make sure. the dial isnt off either. Ive checked the bulbs on the backlighting, and theyre fine too.

Yep, the LP fuse was going to be my next suggestion since that feeds the ILLUM fuse.

Sounds like you either have a wiring problem, or a problem with the dimmer side of the headlight switch.
