Emergency and parking brake light?
I have a 2000 Jimmy with 112000 miles if that matters. My parking and emergency brake light on my dash is always lit up for the most part. It might be off for the first 30 sec of the drive but then it goes on. When it went in the shop they told me my computer was bad and I would need a new one. Which is like $1200-$1500 or something like that. Im not gonna pay that much. And the guy told me that they were just on, that the brake was not activated or anything. So I was wondering if anyone else has this problem? Is there a different way ti fix this?? Its not the biggest deal but whenever I ride people I get tired of telling them it doesnt mean anything.
thanks
thanks
This light is one in the same correct (Park/Emergency Brake light)..?
If so, then it is possible that the switch on the parking brake lever has gone bad. Have you tried lifting up on the parking brake pedal to see if it causes the light to go out? You could also disconnect the wiring to the switch and jumper the connector to ground and see if the light turns off.

Yah mine has done that before for the e-brake pedal being up so it was off but not up so the light was off. If you are talking about engine comp that is a rip that price. http://www.partsamerica.com/productd...Number=773494F
One is the ABS light and the other is the parking brake light. Its 2 different lights. And im not sure what computer it was. Is there anyway I can find out. If its only $100 then I would get that to get these lights off. But id like to make sure what the problem is first.
That's a PCM linked to with the Parts America link. That has nothing to do with the brakes. It's most likely the shop told him it was an ABS module that he needs. If the ABS light is on as well as the parking brake light, check out Modulemaster.com and read their info on ABS failures and what they do for the modules. Considering the price of even a boneyard module plus the programming, the $150 that ModuleMaster gets is a steal. They fixed me up good and now I have no ABS lights on at all. (had pump running all the time, plus ABS and e-brake light. Their fix solved everything)
Oh, and if that ABS light is on, you will not have the 4wd capabilities with come transfer cases because they interlock and you will not have ABS function.
