Default Emissions failure, I think

My truck threw a code that said TOTAL EVAP STYSTEM FAILURE. I am looking at the charcoal canister, does anybody have any experience with this. What is the usual culprit for the code? Sorry I forgot to write down the number. The truck has 190k on the clock and to my knowledge it is the original canister. Any help would be great. Thanks

I highly doubt that it is the charcoal canister. We really need the specific code to move forward with the diagnosis...

Is this the same problem you had back in February of 2007 and didn't respond back to my questions posed back then?

Yes, Sorry for not getting back. I was out of country for awhile and I am now getting back to my dear old truck. I will pull the code again tonight. Wow thats awesome that you remembered me.

I did not remember, just looked to see if this was a reoccurring problem. My memory is nowhere near that good!

I fixed it I think. I replaced all the vacuum lines I could get to last, which sucks by the way, and cleaned my EGR replaced the charcoal canister, gas cap PCV and fuel filter. The truck is running awesome. I will wait a few days before I say that it is fixed. Swartlkk read that you have a 70 Chevelle. My first car was at 68 Chevelle Malibu that we made into a nice car. Pulled the strait 6 flopped in a 396, AT, DART heads and 4/11 Detroit Locker. Way to much fun for a sixteen year old. Let me know your progress.

Hopefully replacing the lines fixed the problem.

As far as progress, its been slow. Fire training and work are taking up quite a bit of my time.

yeah that is sweet your have a 70 chevelle, and sir otto I agree with you about too much car when you were sixteen... I had one of the 454ss model trucks when I was 16 that got hit head on and put me in a coma.... settled down to a blazer
