Default Engine knock, no power, metal flecks in the oil :(

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what went in the motor.

2000 Blazer 4.3l vortec "W" vin.

Was driving down the highway when the engine developed a slight ticking noise, i made it to where i was going and shut it off. Headed back home later that day and the ticking turned into a loud knocking, it sounded like i was driving a washing machine full of ball bearings i shut it off and got a tow back home. The car has almost Zero power, there are metal shavings in the oil they seem to be a gray metal not brass. There aren't any oil leaks that i can see and no dash lights came on.

Thoughts on what to check? or what went?

Spun a bearing or two. Your next step will be pulling the motor.
