Default Engine misfires on 1 and 6

Hi everyone,

I am a new member although I have visited many times for info for my blazer.

2000 chevy blazer LS Zr1
4.3 cu. in.
4 wheel drive

About a year ago my intake gasket blew, I shut it off imediately and checked and found I had milkshake in my oil. I tore it apart, cleaned it out and ran a compression check with distributor out and intake off. All cylinders read within 15% around 150 psi.
Since everything else looked good I put it back together and flushed it out a couple times. It ran good but the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came on and flashed. I put in new Plugs, Wires, Cap, Rotor, and Oxygen sensor, cleared codes and still got the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I took it too a garage and had them read out the codes.
It came up 9-deg off TDC and misfiring even though the crank and distributor where right on the mark. I honed out the distributor bolt hole to give me some extra play and got it within 2-deg TDC, but still misfiring on 1 and 6 and check engine light came back on.

I think I have either a bad distributor or injectors (spider), $250 or $350 respectively. Instead of just spending $600 and 6 hrs. I was hoping some of the techs here could give me some advice on which is the culprit.
Engine ran good before INTAKE gasket with no codes, had intake flipped briefly to clean surface. Still runs very good but because of Emissions I have to resolve this for inspection. Any Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thnkz Shadowzone

Take it to autozone and post back the codes. You can get a skip white distributor off ebay for about 60 bucks. Comes with accell cap and rotor and the shaft it tunred aluminum. I have been running one for about 20,000 miles and it hasn't missed a beat. However I would double check all the work to make sure the plugswires are seated correctly on the plugs and cap first.

If you had to move the distributor to get the camshaft retard within +/- 2 degrees, that means the gear is worn. Replace it like 50lb said

Default Same Blazer same problem!!

My 2000 LS 4.3L is also showing codes indicating misfire on 1 and 6. I have replaced all parts that should have been included on a tuneup with a car of this age (fuel pump/filter, spark plugs (wires were changed last year) distributor cap, fuel injectors 1 and 6 (my dealership mechanic told me these two were the root of the misfire, but after my friend and I replace those myself the vehicle seemed to run even worse, less torque on incline, hideous exhaust sound during misfire on accelaration. I was told I should have replaced the manifold gasket while i had it off changing out the injectors but i thought it looked to be in good shape. Was this a mistake. Also had my injectors flushed by mechanic but noticed the manifold itself as well as the injector ports looked awfully funky. Please tell me where to go from here. Manifold gasket? Injector port/manifold cleaning? Desparite and running low on repair funds.... Can anyone please help?
