I hear that. I went from a '92 Dakota to my Blazer, so 10 years and a different make of truck takes some figuring out.

ok why only at 2500 rpm though, this is what i don't understand about it.
I guess it's kind of like a referees' whistle. If you blow softly there's no sound, if you blow to hard the ball gets stuck and there's no sound. If you blow just hard enough, you hear the whistle.
2500 rpm must be just right for the fan to roar.

If it's removal of the fan you're worried about, there are some slight variations depending on whether your Blazer is older or newer (putting your truck info into your signature is a big help in getting answers). If you do a 'search' function on 'fan clutch', you'll find a thread telling how it's done. It's not an involved job. Let us know.

Fan Clutch Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution
Do not use or attempt to repair a damaged cooling fan assembly. Replace damaged fans with new assemblies. An unbalanced cooling fan could fly apart causing personal injury and property damage.

1.Remove the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement .

2.Remove the fan clutch to the coolant pump drive pulley attaching nuts usingJ-41240 fan clutch wrench.
3.Separate the fan clutch assembly from the coolant pump drive pulley.
4.Remove the fan and the fan clutch as an assembly.

5.Remove the fan-to-fan clutch mounting screws (2.2L w/o AC).

6.Remove the fan to fan clutch mounting screws (4.3L all and 2.2L w/AC).
7.Remove the fan from the clutch.
Installation Procedure

1.Install the fan to the fan clutch mounting (2.2L w/o AC).

2.Install the fan to the fan clutch mounting (4.3L all and 2.2L w/AC).
3.Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement .




4.Install the fan clutch to the coolant pump pulley using the J-41240 fan clutchwrench.
5.Install the attaching nuts.
6.Attach the fan to the clutch with the attaching screws. Tighten the screws to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

Important
To maintain a balanced fan assembly, align the yellow paint mark on the fan clutch hub with the yellow paint mark on the water pump hub.


Tighten the nuts to 24 N·m (17 lb ft).
