Engine Swap help 95 S10 Blazer
OK here is my story. About a month ago my truck cut off on me on the way home. Turned over and over with no start. We got it home and unplugged the TPS and IAC valve and it started right up. Assuming that it was the TPS we went and bought a new one. No problems for a couple days then it started stalling again. We put new plugs/wires, rotor, cap, still nothing. We took it to a shop and they diagnosed it as the inector spider. We replaced the spider and bough a new fuel pressure regulator. Now the truck is idling fine but misses real bad at 2500 RPMs. And it just started blowing a greyish blue smoke real bad out of the tailpipe. Bad enough Ive been pulled over twice and told not to drive the truck. Also Ive notice my oil level has been rising Im assuming that I have gas leaking down into the cylinder somehow and Im burning an oil/gas mix and thats why its smoking. Any other thoughts on what my problem could be. Ive also considered getting another 4.3 and swapping the whole engine. I only want to get it fixed enough to sell it. ASAP. Id like to know which engine I could swap into it, also if I swap the engine with a 96 or newer is it possible to swap the computer as well to make it work.
My truck is a 95 s10 blazer with a 4.3 CPI "W" engine
Thanks for your help any advice would be greatly apprecitated!

Blue smoke is gas!
But, I'm curious... The Fuel injection spider has the preasure regulator in it - I hope they didn't charge you seperately for it.
I got my preasure regulator from Advance Auto for $45 and had it in that evening. I had to pump the cylinder dry 'cause it was filled up with gas. But, on the bright side, it freed up a stuck lifter! lol
You should take the upper intake off and turn the truck "on" (just on, don't bump the start!!!) and see where it is coming from. We know for sure it's leaking out into the intake plenum by what you have stated... but, where? There are some O-rings that are not reuseable and things that can get pinched etc.
The upper plenum gasket is only $10~$15 for Felpro and some quality O-rings specifically for gas are a few cents... and it isn't too hard to get the intake open.
Best of luck.

OK I guess I should have mentioned that we used a spider we bought used and when we installed it the FPR was leaking so we replaced it with a new one. No leaks when I turn the key forward. Also we took it to a shop to have it diagnosed. They found out that the TPS we installed wasnt any good so they swapped that out and checked the fuel pressure. They also said they flushed the injectors 3 times. Is it possible that when they did that it could have washed out my cylinders? It never smoked before I took it there it was just shutting off. Im not sure what to do next. Id hate to go through the trouble of rebuilding the top end if the bottom is bad too. Wouldnt it be a lot easier just to swap the engine? Ive found some replacement engines on craigslist anywhere from 200 - 500 dollars. Im just not sure since its a 95 what years I can use or if its possible to use any year as long as you change the computer also.
