Default engine temp too cool

Well today's the 1st time I've driven the Jimmy when it's cool outside- 44 this morning here in FL. I have noticed when it's hot outside that it runs cool according to the temp gauge. It does have an electric fan on it. It has always taken a while to warm up enough for the trans to let it go into lockup. Well this morning drove 25 miles to work and it never got hot enough to go into lockup and it puts out very little heat. The hottest the engine got according to the gauge was the 1st line past 100. I'm guessing that someone may have taken the thermostat out or put in a very cold one. Does anyone else have any ideas? Thanks

Well, pop in the 195* thermo and see if that fixes it.

Yah thermostat is either stuck open or not working since you werent getting heat either. Is your electric fan set to always run or do you have a thermostat on it. If its always running in cold whether its gonna take awhile to heat up.

Yeah the fan is on all the time. I know it'll take a little longer- that's ok. Just not 25 miles longer lol. I haven't even checked on a thermostat yet- so these are 195? Would I be better off with a 180?

No, you want a 195. That is stock and it needs that temperature to keep from running in open loop mode and ruining your mileage and power. That fan running all the time isn't doing anything for you, either.

Problem solved- whoever had it before me ran it without a thermostat. Popped in a 195 and she's good to go!

Yep, that'll make a difference.
