Error in GM manual regarding ATF capacity of transfer case.
I was changing fluids today and The manual says the capacity of a New Venture transfer case is 1.8 litres (For US guys - a litre is roughly a quart).
I filled it up and couldn't get 1.8 litres in so I raised the back end and filled it until it dribbled out the top plug hole. I probably got about 1.3-1.4 quarts into it.
Now that I re-read the manual it says 1.8 litres / 1.25 quarts.
BUT
1.8 litres doesn't equal 1.25 quarts, the math is wrong in the manual!
I'm going to assume the 1.25quarts is correct because that's about what I go in there before it started dribbling out the top filler plug hole.
Did I miss something or is everyone else filling it up to the top fill plug hole, approx 1.25 litres, and then sealing it back up?
I thought I'd throw this up in case someone else gets tripped up thinking the case should hold 1.8 litres.
