yeah... the smog laws here effing suck!! but you cant beat the weather for the most part.

 

I contacted CATCO and it is the wrong one they are issuing call tag for it and sending the right one.

CATCO seem to be helpful bunch and quick to take care of things. That's surprising in today's world.

"Y" pipe changed out over the weekend it was about 50% blocked, and about the same on the "CAT" it got changed out too. I have better acceleration now and a lot less cam rattle when taking off from a stop or passing. There is still a little rattle coming under heavy acceleration but nothing like I had. The motor seem to run more effortlessly now.

the truck is considerably louder than it was about a 1/3 louder before I started, but I can live with it as long as the fuel mileage come back up. it was down to about 9 mpg I hope to return to 16 or maybe better.

 

could the pre-cats be removed on a 2000? I was thinking of losing them and going with a single hi po cat. My state does not do emission testing So that's not a worry... just that damn computer / o2 sensors.

 

When a converter is in good condition and working properly, it has zero effect on exhaust flow. Never mind State level, Federal fines are worse, and that's what you'd be dealing with.... They start at $3500 for tampering with emission controls. Don't think you'll get caught? Think again, it happens all the time.

 

CT No light no problem. Will removing the precat cause an O2 fault?

 

Removing the pre-converter will set P0420 in memory and turn on the SES light. It will also cause the downstream converter to overheat, which will eventually destroy it.
