Intake, Y-pipe, and exhaust
I have a 99 blazer 4.3L Vortec. I am wanting to fix it up some. I was thinking cold air intake, a fabricated Y-pipe cause i read on here that the stock one isnt to good, and getting magnaflow exhaust. I am thinking about just dropping the cat casue i live in OK and no emissions testhere. I also heard that it robs a lot of power. I am thinking about getting a intake off ebay with a K&N filter. I was wanting to put new headers on it too but they were pretty pricey i did not look to much though. How much would this help and is the piping off the ebay for Cold air intakes alright as long as i have a filter.
I like the magnaflow over flowmaster cause i dont want a super loud exhaust. Any suggestions and is dropping the cat going to improve my performance as i think or hinder it.

RE: Intake, Y-pipe, and exhaust
unless the cat is falling apart it really doesn't need to be replaced or taken out, and I know that its easy just to take out the cat (please don'tcall me a tree hugger)but just give a thought to yur environment, the cat isthere for a reason, doesn't really hinder performance, and keeps the exhaust a little quieter... just my 2 cents. and a magnaflow will give you a more mellow sound, i'vegot one and I love the grumble it makes when I hit the 2500 rpm area.

I have a dual flowmaster exhaust and it sounds like a beefed up5.0. And it cost me $295.00 parts and install total.
