Default Factory wheel hub

Hello I. I've been a member but had to alter all my info due to Google not acknowledging my existence. Anyway, can some one tell me if RWD factory front wheel hubs have tapered or ball bearings? One quick follow up. There are two I'm looking at in my budget. One is a double ball bearing setup the other is a tapered. In you're knowledge which might be a better choice? I know the short list of higher end ones that are the best but my wallet just will not allow that at this time. Thank you for any knowledge that is shared.

Found out what I said is not true for Second Gen. Chuck N Truck has it right.
2wd would have tapered roller bearings in the front - both inside and out.

As far as I know, the pickups still used tapered bearing on the front in the 2nd gens, but the blazers used sealed roller bearings that are replaced as a hub assembly. 2wds just don't have in inner spline that the 4x4 has.
When I replaced the front hubs on my 2002 2wd blazer I used Timkin part number SP450300 and you can get them on Rock auto for about $116. Or you can get much cheaper hubs on rock auto but I question their quality.

Thanks for the info. I ordered a tapered bearing setup with what I read about radial support advantages etc. Was this a mistake? My list of repairs and maintenance isn't that lengthy so I'm trying to get multiple things done on a moderate budget. So as much as I agree with the timken quality, I couldn't spend quite that much but I feel good about the quality of the one I could afford. I didn't do too cheap though. Thanks for your help LesMeyer and ChucknTruck.

As long as you ordered/purchased the hub assembly and not individual bearings...you are fine as far as fit goes....quality....welllllll....time will tell on that one.

Considering the rumble volume even a low speeds and the longetivy of the issue. I'm just excited it will be fixed. I'm sure I'll be asking for knowledge and opinions as I keep making my list shorter. Thanks again people.

You bought a hub that looks like this picture correct? If you bought individual tapered bearings they will not work.

Also you can get a off brand hub assembly off rock auto for about $35 if needed.

I have used rockauto many times to replace things on my blazer. If you can wait for the shipping you will save a bunch of money getting parts from them.

I agree with RockAuto.....get probably 95% of my auto parts from them.
