Exclamation Fault code P0300-Random Missfire.

Hey guys. About a week ago my 02 blazer died on me. I did a full tune up on it, cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Well Now it has the code popping up P0300. Random missfire. I dont know whats wrong. It drives fine when speeding up but when I brake and start to idle it starts to die on me. I can smell unburned fuel too. I did fittle with some vaccum hoses and it was idling fine after that, then I reved it into some high rpm's and I watched the needle go right back down and the car died. Started it up, did it again and it didnt die. I dont know whats up. It cant be from the tune up, Because its random. Its not one specific cylinder. Please all help is appreicated. I just wanna get this damn thing running so I can drive to school.

It sounds like an air leak. Start by removing your air intake, and clean your throttle body (not the issue, but good to do). Re-attach the vacuum hose (from the brake booster). Work your way forward, and CLEAN YOUR MAF SENSOR!!! Look up on the forum for a DIY walk-through on the cleaning procedure. The electrodes are VERY delicate! Make sure ALL of the wired connections are...connected, and that ALL of the sensors are clean! If your air filter is clean, Re-install.

^^^ I say this, because the last time my truck acted in this manner, a section of my intake tubing had wiggled loose, and was letting too much air into the engine. I felt like a damn fool when somebody had pointed that out to me!!!

The problem with the gas smell, and dying is most likely the MAF sensor either being dirty or bad. After cleaning the sensor, unplug the sensor, and if your truck runs like a champ, then you have your issue! After ruling out the MAF sensor, check the other things! Like I said above...face palm moment with the simple air leak!

As for the P0300...Good luck! (Search the forum to see why). You aren't the only one! You will probably spend the whole life of your truck chasing that one down! It could be fuel related, electrical, computer, injector (in my case), or a million different reasons. As long as I don't go WOT in my truck, I don't have to worry about it! Just clear the code, and drive. It isn't a racecar. Not assuming you drive this way; it is just that most p0300's i've heard of happen at high RPM's!

Tune up was a good start...but don't waste your money. Just my ...

Oh, and as always, GOOD LUCK ~Mike
