Default Flashing SES light

First I wanted to say thank you to all that post on this forum. It has helped me figure out and fix many things on my 95 blazer. It is perfect for someone who does not have a lot of money.

New problem: 99 blazer-flashing SES light. From reading on here it could be misfiring but I am also smelling sulfer. Its driving fine but at idle its pretty rough. Does sound like more than just plugs and wires??

Yeah the constant misfire causes it to flash. I would start with plugs and wires but while its apart check the distributor gear. As for the sulfer smell ive seen people refer to it as a converter problem but ive never had a problem with my converters in any of my vehicles. I would definately start with the plugs and wires though if they've never been done.

The sulpher smell would be expected if your engine is misfiring. It's the result of unburned fuel passing through the catalytic converter. That is why the SES light flashes to alert you to take care of this asap before it damages your converter.

Well it just goes to show you that before you freak out about your truck, check the little things first!! I just had a plug wire come off the plug. Don't know how it happeded but thats why it was misfiring. Gonna replace all the wires and plugs anyway but I'm very relieved it wasn't something worse.
