What's the minimum clearance on these things, and what sort of jack height do we need?

Interesting thread, I'm looking to buy a floor jack myself to replace the scissor jack with. Something inexpensive and reliable. I know I might sound lazy but sometimes when I feel like jacking the truck up, I don't even bother because I just don't feel like going through the whole cracking and spinning process, scraping my knuckles on the ground and such.

Ya i need to replace my scissor jack mainly because it doesn't really lift my truck much. I bought some light truck jack stand when i put my lift shackles on and well they didnt even bring my rear wheels off the ground far enough to get the tires off. and the jack only lifts the wheels about an inch off the ground, and now that i have the shackles on i doubt they will even lift them off at all. I just barrowed some 4 ton stands from a friend and a 4 ton jack. so now i need something small enough to fit in my truck. i drive a zr2 though i think they give us the same jack so you probably dont have this problem.

You prob have the same jack but if I'm correct the zr2 has a 2" stock lift, plus your tires look bigger. The jack that comes with my reg Blazer gets the wheels off the ground pretty well. I got the back wheels off the ground about 2 inches and still had more height to spare. But I have 27" tires on 15" rims, and stock reg Blazers aren't too high off the ground to begin with. A lot of jacks that come with SUV's/trucks don't even reach. I guess they figure it's for emergency situations and people will never really use them. It took me long enough to even find out where the jack was located because I never needed it to look. Then I said let me pop this thing open, and laying there was a brand new jack with not a speck of rust or wear on it.

i know ford explorers came with a bottle jack that had a few sleeves so it would extend at least 2ft. You could go to a junk yard and look for one.
