Hey,

New to the board....need some assistance with flushing a radiator. I've never done it before and I have 100,000+ miles on my 1998 Chevy Blazer 4x4. I was wondering if anyone out there had any instructions on how to flush the radiator? Any help is appreciated.

 

whats up bro, yeah i just flushed my radiator last weekend.... first go to advance auto or auto zone or even walmart and pick up some radiator flush.. then you have to find the radiator drain (mine was right in front of the passenger side tire behind the splash gaurd it was kinda hard to get t0) then what you wanna do after the the radiator is drain is uplug the over flow and stick a house in there and get all the old fluid out (it wont drain when you drain the radiator) after thats done poor the flush into the radiator and follow the directions on the back of the bottle... it should pick up where i left off..... good luck bro

 

I'm kind of curious on the procedure for emptying the overflow. I looked at the tubes connecting the radiator and the reservoir. Which tube gets unplugged to empty the reservoir? Where does the fluid come out at? I don't want all of that old radiator fluid getting all over the engine.

 

its hard to explain where the fluid comes out of the overflow...and unfortunately im on vaca in fl away from my blazer so i can take pics but i will do my best to explain...if you are standing in front of the engine on the right side of the overflow should be a kind of molded spout that the hose is connected to...you can disconnect to hose that that point and drain it there...... unfortunatly theres not alot you can do to prevent some of it from getting on the engine but as long as you are running a hose in the overflow at the same time you drain it it should be fine the water will thin it out and wash the existing fluid off the lil part of the engine that it got on..... i did it to mine and it was fine

 

let me mention, that this is a drain and fill, and that while it is good, it is not as good as a powerflush and fill.
