Front End Clunk Not Found
#1
I am getting a clunk from the right front floor area at speeds from 20mph to about 55mph. It only happens on certain road imperfections (medium). It does not happen at slow speeds nor on the freeway. I can't feel the clunk when it happens.
This is on a 2004 2dr 4WD. Truck was checked by my trusted long term used shop. Checked from the torsion bar mounts forward. Nothing was found loose (both on the ground and in the air) but the upper left control arm bushings were shot. Had them replace that and it aligned within specs even with the 1" torsion bar tweek and rear air shocks leveling it. Steering it fairly tight with no large amounts of play.
Since purchasing this truck for winter use I have replaced all 4 shocks. Same noise before and after. Truck has newer front sway bar links/bushings on it. I have installed the washers on the hood hinges. That was not it either. I'm at a loss here. Anything else to look at?

Body mounts tight and look surprisingly good.
I did find that the passenger side hood bumper was not actually touching the hood when shut. I adjusted that.
Any other things to take a look-see at?

I just got done chasing front end clunks on my 02 4dr 4wd. There are literally so man things that can clunk in the front ends of these trucks. I had clunks, pops, and bangs truck has about 148k and has lived it's life in central California until I moved it to the desert. What I found
Pops: ball joints... I replaced them all. Upper, lower control arms, tie rods
Bangs/clunks: cv half shafts, hubs, and pitman (possibly) idler arm (probably), upper and lower control arm bushings (I replaced uppers with aftermarket complete arms) I replaced the lower bushings myself and would rather shoot myself then ever do that again. Take those to a machine shop and have them pressed.
It's a nightmare, I have spent way more time under the truck since I bought it then actually driving it. Add to it I just thought I had finished everything. But a small oil leak from the remote oil adapter has turned into a constant drip so one more freaking project to do. I think at this point I have literally replaced everything other than the actual engine/trans/transfer/diffs eveything around them is new. It's clunk/bang/pop free now so that's the only upside.

Forgot to mention the worst clunk I had after the steering part change was from the driver side cv half shaft. And if you asked me I would have sworn up and down it was from the passenger side. But if it was the cv half shaft you would have a massive amount of grease flung off of them too
