front end scrapy grindy noise

front end scrapy grindy noise
2000 jimmy 4wd, 236 t/case a/t
chasing this noise while under light acceleration, looks like i replaced right front cv shaft for nothing.
i had removed the front driveshaft prior as well. not sure if the front axle actuator noise thing would apply.
would anybody know the best way to diagnose if thats what is going on?
any input would be appreciated,
