Default Front suspension "creaking"

Hey all, I'm the one who asked just how far these units will go, and some of your answers surprised me,but yes My unit DOES have the original exhaust system on it(date coded to Apr 96-date of Mfg for this unit-right on the muffler!) Any way I now have an issue that I cant seem to find: it has developed a creaking sound in the left front end,not a squeak, but a real wooden sounding creak! I jacked it up and pulled both wheels, siliconed all bushings: control arms, sway bar bushings, and torsion bar recepatacles. No difference... BUT it does only happen on the downward motion of the suspension with no apparant relation to road surface. The unit still tracks well and drives fine, pads are good as well as are all CV boots. Ideas from you folks would be appeciated-I'm stymied...
By the way I found a 2000 blazer at a dealer for $6700 with 104K on it, I offered them $4100 and they jumped at my offer. Still a little high, but the overall price seems only 10% above wholesale, what do you think? I'm gonna keep the 225K jimmy any way cause it still runs decent and still delivers 24.3 MPG!!! No kidding! Your ideas are always welcome!
Thanks! Step66

Try doing a lube job on the front end. You might be pleasantly surprised with the results.

Thanks, but that was the first thing I did (and do every 3500 mi) and no effect and as I stated I sprayed all the bushings (which aren't perfect @ 225k) It feels like its a torsion bar problem as when the unit is brought to a stop, one feels a little clunk in the drivers seat:after it stops!(and no the seats aren't loose either...) The corrosion is not to the point where it seems that the rear torsion mounts are bad. hmmmm Any Ideas?
