Default Fuel or electrical?

Well here we go again... I thank (enter your preferred religious diety here) that you guys are here running this forum :P But enough of theside chat... Let thebrainstormin' begin!

Specs:

96 Blazer LT
4.3L v6 4x4 4dr

Problem:

Hadrecently replacedgas tank and fuel pump (Delphi fuel pumpand new tank from Keystone). Once everything went back up in,it ran great for abouta few weeks till i found that the fuel tank vent valve needs to be replaced... So even with that the way itis, itran decent...

Now after changing the fuel filter last week, i was driving back froma friends house and the truck out of the blue stalls going around a corner... Had a little under a half tank of gas so i am pretty sure it wasn't a lack of fuel... i sat on the side of the road for a good ten minutes trying to get it started and got nothing. I turned the truck on and checked the pressure relase valve on the fuel rail heading into the intake and got barely nothing out of it... I turned it off and let it sit for a few more minutes and gave it another shot and it started.

Got about 2-3 milesdown the road and it dies again, this time going in a stright line and about 35-40 mph. Again tried starting it for a good ten minutes on and off and got it strarted again... a couple more miles and dies... then started and finally a forth and final tim of the stall then go and got it home and parked it running. Was checking for leaks and at the battery connectors and was't any build up. While doing so it stalled on me for the last time... I tried to start it once and got nothing so i let it sit in the parking lot for a few days and juststarted it just a few moments ago andit runs over the first shot (took about a sec or two due to it being liek 32 degrees outside)

I listened for the bump to hiss on and it didand i let it sit for a good 20+ minutes and no stalling... i shut it off and let it sit fora couple minutes since it waswarmed up and started no problem...

So what makes a fuel pump work then not work then work again? Usually it just dies never to be heard from again... is it a grounding issues or something with the electrical that might be making it stall and restart the way it is?

If anyone has had as similair issue or can help pinpoint what the problem might be, i would be most appreciated!

Thanks for reading this,
Skyblazer

Default RE: Fuel or electrical?

you're gonna have to see when it doesn't run which is the issue-fuel or spark. Fuel pressure gauge on the schrader valve you depressed or a timing light will make this determination. Then we go from there. Sounds...well I'd better not guess at this point. How many miles on this Blazer? Let us know as there are too many possibilities without knowing spark or fuel. JP

Lucky enough i have access to a timing light, the fuel pressure tester i will have to find... As for milage, 165k at the moment if that helps :P
